In 1988, The Illinois State Board of Education began a special project to assist the early childhood community serving young children with special needs throughout Illinois. The state was divided into six geographical regions. Each regional project was awarded to an entity to serve that portion of the state. Although many activities are similar among the regions, each region reflects the unique character and needs of the early childhood personnel and families within it. The Region V grant was awarded to the Chicago Public Schools within the Office of Specialized Services and serves families and personnel throughout the City of Chicago.

Through our statewide system we promote excellence, provide leadership and offer opportunities for personal and professional growth.
